During COVID-19 social distancing measures it can be easy to become isolated and feel alone. Some of our local community partners are offering online support groups as a way to stay connected.
NOTE: We know that privacy is very important to many people and some people have concerns about internet security with online groups. Please ask group facilitators about security measures they are taking, if you have questions about this.

Avenidas LGBTQ at Home Photo Scavenger Hunt
Saturday, April 11
The scavenger hunt will begin at 10am when all participants will receive the list via email. The game will last until someone finds all of the items or until someone finds most of the items by 1pm. If you would like to participate in the Scavenger Hunt, please email Thomas Kingery at [email protected] and put “Scavenger Hunt” in the subject line.

The Billy DeFrank Center Provides “Trans Women’s Support Zoom Meeting”
Every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month @7:30pm
This is a “Peer Supported” group that has been meeting regularly for many years now.

The LGBTQ Youth Space Provides “WEB HANGOUT”
This is a new support group for youth and young adults who identify within the LGBTQ+ community
(Ages; 13-25)
All groups are private and invite.

The Outlet program of Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS):
The Outlet program is hosting online peer groups for LGBTQ+ youth ages 10-25 via Discord. Learn more about the groups and how to join at https://www.acs-teens.org/what-we-do/outlet/
Outlet is also providing one-on-one telehealth counseling services to LGBTQ+ youth ages 10-25 via Google Hangouts. Counseling operates on a sliding scale payment system (and will accommodate youth with little to no income). TransFamilies SiliconValley Parent Support Meeting
Monthly peer-led support group meeting for parents and caregivers of trans or gender-questioning teens and young adults. Currently held as a Zoom meeting. Please email [email protected] for meeting registration information.
Avenidas LGBTQ Senior Initiative Isolation Support Group
This is a new weekly support group for members of the LGBTQ community who are coping with being isolated during this Coronavirus outbreak. Co-Facilitated by Thomas Kingery of Avenidas and Jenn Chan of OpenHouse, this support group will foster community, provide a safe space to express feelings and experiences, and to gain coping skills via the internet.
This group will meet every Monday morning from 10-11 am via the Zoom platform. Those interested in participating should email Thomas Kingery at [email protected] to request an invitation; please put “support group” in the subject line.
