NEWSROOM

For the Media

One of our top priorities is to protect patient privacy and individually identifiable health information. We follow the privacy requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and existing California law. Patients must give specific authorization for the disclosure of their protected health information.

In compliance with Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH) policy, and to ensure federal patient privacy standards are upheld for all hospital and clinic patients and visitors, a staff member from the Public Information Office must accompany all reporters and photographers while on Santa Clara Valley Healthcare properties, including Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O'Connor Hospital, St. Louise Regional Hospital, and it's primary and specialty clinics across the county.  Reporters, videographers, still photographers and other media interested in coming to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center must first contact the Public Information Office.
